Amber Bell shared kindness in countless ways, often riding through town on her bike, stopping to deliver flowers to those who needed a little extra care and encouragement.

Every year, we have the profound honor of awarding the Amber Bell Scholarship to a Growing Kindness Ambassador who embodies Amber’s legacy of generosity, resilience, and the unwavering desire to share kindness—no matter the challenges they face.

Amber Bell was a beloved member of our Growing Kindness Ambassador Team, known for her boundless spirit of giving. Even while undergoing treatment for stage four cancer, Amber continued to grow and share flowers, offering beauty and encouragement to those around her. Her determination to bring joy to others, even in the midst of her own struggles, left an unforgettable mark on all who knew her. She showed us what it truly means to give selflessly—to choose kindness, no matter the circumstances.

While Amber left this world in November 2021, but cancer could never take her light. Her kindness, generosity, and bravery still shine through the hearts of those she touched. When she applied to be an Ambassador, she wrote:

"I know that I will not be on this earth forever, but I also know that I can make a lasting impact on those around me. I hope that the beauty of flowers and the kindness they inspire will remind those who receive them to love deeply, give freely, and find joy in every moment."

That is exactly the kind of impact she made. And it’s why the Amber Bell Scholarship was created—to honor her spirit by supporting ambassadors who carry forward her legacy of kindness.

This year, we are deeply honored to award the 2025 Amber Bell Scholarship to someone who not only shares Amber’s passion for giving but also had the privilege of serving alongside her.

Jess Becker, an alum of the Growing Kindness Ambassador program, was part of the 2021 Ambassador team—the very same year that Amber was. They grew and gave flowers together, and their shared season of kindness makes this award all the more meaningful.

Jess has been a dedicated and cherished part of our community, using flowers as a way to uplift others and create connection. This past year brought challenges she never expected as she faced a difficult season of cancer treatment. Yet, through it all, her heart for giving has never wavered. When we shared with Jess that she had been selected for the scholarship, she reflected on Amber’s lasting influence, saying:

"I think about Amber a lot, especially as I've been going through all of this. For me, she's always been a large part of how I think about the project and the joy it can bring."

Jess’s words speak to the heart of what Growing Kindness is all about—the power of flowers, generosity, and connection to bring light even in life’s hardest moments. The Amber Bell Scholarship exists for people like Jess—people who, like Amber, believe that kindness is meant to be shared, even through life’s challenges. We are honored to walk alongside her this season and know that, just as Amber did, she will continue to bring beauty and joy to those around her.
